We work a lot.
We often don’t realize that we are working our body.
We
eat, we talk, we walk, we work, we cook, we see, we think, we listen. We do a
lot of work. Even when our body stops performing most of its jobs, our mind
doesn’t. They both need rest. There is nothing better than a good-night sleep.
A healthy mind makes the body healthy and both of them lead a healthy life.
1. Don’t force.

You
are not a machine which starts and shuts down with a button. Don’t force
yourself because it’s time to sleep. Give some time to your body to rest
itself. Let your body and mind prepare themselves to sleep. As we need some
time to wake up fully, we need time to fall asleep too. Don’t force yourself
saying ‘You should sleep now’. It might work adversely.
2. Stretch your body.

Before
you go to bed, stand near your bed and stretch your whole body any possible way
you can at once. You don’t need to do exercises here. Don’t overdo it. Just
stretch it a bit for few seconds to relax. Relieve your body parts from all
stress and strain.
3. Clear
the baggage.
Your
mind is not a baggage cart to carry all the thoughts, worries, schedules,
to-do-lists 24*7. It’s not an easy task to clear the mind. It’s even difficult
to empty it completely. Clearing the mind might seem impossible at first attempt,
but give it a shot. Take a step toward it. You soon will be able to walk a long
path ahead.
4. Let
your body float on the bed.
Throw
your body in the bed and let it float on the bed. Until and unless it’s not
uncomfortable, lie down however you want. Relax your every muscle. Be lazy to
even move a muscle. Try to feel nothing. Let the breeze flow through you.
Experience your body floating in the sleep boat. Let the boat go with the wind.
Let it go far…
The
work from here is really simple.
5. Stretch
your lips a bit.
Yes,
give your lips a curvy stretch. Smile. Smile from your heart. You don’t need a
reason to smile prettily. But if you have any, let it make your smile bright.
Give as wide smile as you can.
Feel
good. Feel good even for nothing.
6. Breathe.
Take
deep breaths. It’s a cooling system of our body. Just- inhale, exhale. No need
to think it as breathing in some positive stuff and breathing out the negative
stuff. You are sleeping to calm your soul. No need to exhaust it with thinking
about some positive-negative stuff. Just breathe.
7. Close
your eyes.
Slowly
close your eyes. Put your palms on them. Don’t push them hard. Just rest your
palms on your closed eyes. Let your eyes feel your palms’ warmth. You can cover
them with your fingers also. Now slowly put your hands off after few seconds.
8. ‘Let’s
sleep’.
…..And
now, it’s time to sleep. Just say, ‘Let’s sleep’. That’s it.
